Human trafficking training is increasingly common across healthcare and other professional settings. But what makes a training actually effective?
In this HEAL Hour, Hanni Stoklosa, MD, MPH, and Kara Napolitano will explore what it takes to move beyond simply sharing information and create training that supports meaningful learning, changes practice, and strengthens systems of care.
Using HEAL's Human Trafficking Curriculum Assessment Tool (HT-CAT) as a foundation, they'll explore practical strategies for developing and delivering training that is evidence-based, engaging, trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and relevant to real-world practice.
Together, we'll explore:
- How the HT-CAT can provide a foundation for high-quality human trafficking education
- Ways to make training relevant and applicable to real-world practice
- What trauma-informed approaches look like not only in what we teach, but in how we teach
- Principles for meaningfully and ethically incorporating survivor perspectives
- How to evaluate whether training is translating into changes in knowledge, practice, and organizational response
Whether you develop trainings, facilitate education, or regularly participate in professional learning, this session will offer practical ideas for making human trafficking education more useful and impactful.
