Train the Trainer Academy

HEAL’s two-day Train the Trainer Academy, held annually since 2019, equips health educators with essential knowledge and teaching skills to train other health professionals in their communities to respond to human trafficking.

Overview

Our faculty includes individuals with lived experience of trafficking and expertise in health care, trafficking, and medical education. The program is currently 100% virtual.

After attending, you will be able to:

  • Teach a public health approach to human trafficking that is rooted in survivor- and trauma-informed care
  • Recognize how to create effective and engaging adult learning environments 
  • Evaluate your personal training strengths and areas for growth 
  • Develop strategies to enhance human trafficking response efforts in your community
  • Expand your community of clinician-educators passionate about eradicating human trafficking

Rahel Bosson

Instructor
Rahel Bosson, MD holds multiple faculty positions, including Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Associate Director of the Center for Immigrant Health at MGH. She specializes in refugee and immigrant health, integrating mental health care and provider education.

Nani Cuadrado

HEAL Director of Education, Instructor
Nani Cuadrado, MSPAS, PA-C, is HEAL Trafficking’s Director of Education. With 20 years in emergency medicine, she leads anti-trafficking initiatives, including developing response protocols and providing care for vulnerable populations, including trafficked minors.

Hanni Stoklosa

HEAL Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder, Instructor
Dr. Hanni Stoklosa, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder of HEAL Trafficking, is an emergency physician at BWH and Harvard faculty. An expert in trafficking survivor wellbeing, she has advised global organizations and published on public health responses to trafficking.

Why should I choose the HEAL Train the Trainer Academy?

The HEAL Train the Trainer Academy is the leading Academy equipping professionals to train health systems and workers on health care responses to trafficking. Our program has been recognized for its excellence at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Conference and featured in the Academic Medicine journal. Who should attend?

The HEAL Train the Trainer Academy is designed for individuals from all sectors who are committed to educating health professionals about human trafficking. Whether you are experienced in training or new to the field, our program provides valuable insights and skills to enhance your ability to deliver impactful training on human trafficking.

Are there prerequisites for attending?

There are no prerequisites to attend the Academy. Whether you’re an experienced trainer or brand new to the role, we’ll meet you where you are. To make the most of our time together, you’ll receive supplemental reading in advance, helping you dive right into discussions and hands-on activities.

Are discounts or scholarships available?

Yes. We offer the following discounts:

  • Early registration – Save by registering before the early registration deadline.
  • Group rate – Reduced rate for groups of 3 or more registering together.
  • Lived experience rate – A reduced rate is available for participants with lived experience. We value the expertise that lived experience brings and are committed to making the program accessible.

Are continuing education credits available?

Yes, we provide the option to earn continuing education (CE) credits for attending our Train the Trainer Academy. For specific details regarding CE credits, please visit the Academy registration page where you can find information on eligibility and fees.

Absolutely! We specialize in developing customized train-the-trainer sessions tailored to the needs of local communities, healthcare specialties, and human trafficking task forces.
